What happens here

Begin by placing the larger corner stones at the base of the concrete pillars. With mortar applied to the back of the stone (including the air gap), firmly press each stone onto the pillar corner. The suction created by the air gap will help it stick. Gradually work your way up the pillar, carefully selecting stones that fit well together and ensuring a visually appealing pattern. Continue this process around all sides and corners of the pillar until the corners are established. After completing the corners, apply mortar to the back of the flat (field) stones and fit them into the remaining spaces on the pillar faces. The process involves selecting stones that fit tightly, applying mortar with the air gap technique, and pressing them firmly onto the concrete. If a stone doesn't fit perfectly, you can use a hammer and chisel to make minor adjustments to its shape. The goal is to fill all faces of the pillar with stones, leaving gaps for grouting.

Goal: Cover all faces of the concrete pillars with stone veneer.
