What happens here
Using a trowel, apply a generous layer of freshly mixed mortar to the entire back surface of each manufactured stone. Crucially, leave a small, roughly half-inch air gap in the center of the stone. This air gap is a deliberate technique to create suction, helping the stone adhere firmly to the pillar when pressed. The presenter's friend, Scotty, demonstrates this method while wearing gloves for protection.
Goal: Prepare each stone for firm adhesion to the concrete pillar.
