What happens here

Use a gas-powered concrete saw to cut the stone slabs into cap blocks of the desired size. The video shows the slabs being cut straight and then hammered and chiseled to create notches or breaks. This allows the cap blocks to fit around the timber posts on top of the pillars, providing a finished look while accommodating the structural elements. Always wear appropriate personal protective equipment, such as a dust mask and safety glasses, when using power tools that generate dust. Once cut, apply mortar to the underside of the cap blocks, fitting them snugly around the timber posts. Ensure the caps are leveled correctly and that they shed water away from the post to prevent moisture damage. Any gaps between the cap blocks and the timber post, or between the individual cap blocks, should then be filled with grout using the grout bag. Use a level to confirm the slight slope for drainage.

Goal: Prepare and securely place stone cap blocks on the finished pillars.
