What happens here
This video demonstrates a quick and simple repair of a leaking PVC irrigation pipe system in a garden. The process involves identifying and exposing the broken pipe, cutting out the damaged section, preparing new PVC pipe and fittings, and then using primer and cement to create strong, permanent, leak-proof connections. The repair concludes with testing the new connections for leaks and backfilling the trench.

(3,714 characters)All right. So, I came over to my mother-in-law's. She has got a leak right here in her garden. We're get all this stuff cleared out. We're going to dig. Going to find what our issue is. We're going to fix it. She turned the water on, so the ground was a little soft for me, which is digging. Lay that down right now. Get it a little kneeler as well. All right. Cracked it just a little bit. Got a little busted 90. So, as I'm digging with the gardening shovel here, you can start to notice a bunch of roots. I had to pull out the loppers, clip them around. I think that's probably what ended up cracking this pipe over time was a root just growing up and eventually popping the PVC. We got to go get some parts. I found a couple of 90s. I got some glue, but we need to rebuild this. I can get right down in here. You can tell that's been repaired a couple of times. I got some new fittings. I got some pipe. I've got some glue. I don't 100% know what the uh plan is with the tea, so I'm actually just going to put a little piece of pipe and cap it. And but let's just get it put together real quick. And look, you get up on here, you can actually see right where that break is right there. All right. Oh, and it was broken there, too. This whole thing was shot like that. All of it's jacked. Whole pipe twisted and broke. So, easy way to do this is just follow the pipe. Just cut the exact same lengths as what's here to everything. And that's going to work out really well. Following it right along. Is it just me or a schedule 40 PVC couplings getting shorter? That seems really short. We got a little OD handy pack here. Purple primer, clear glue. All I like blue glue, but we had this already. Let's just get this party started turn. That's right up in there. Looking good. Just dry time. Keep building. there. One of the things we're popping off of here. We're not going to put it back on right now because I don't know 100% what he wants to do with this. But this is a union for a pressure regulator that was running a bunch of solenoid valves back when the garden used to be a ton bigger. Um, we'll save that. I don't think this hose bib right here is that old and I think it still works really well. Pop. We're going to pop this on too. Save oursel a few bucks here with this thing cuz it was another what? What was this like 12 bucks or something? It's just a little sunworn. Knocks all. Found some teflon in the garden shed. Oh, it's thin to win, too, man. So, the thinner the teflon. Put a few more wraps on it. There we go. It's looking good now. Now, we're going to give this just a few more minutes. Then, we're going to turn the water back on. Check it out. I'm giving it about a half hour. Let's slowly open this bad boy. It's not going to fully cure for about 2 hours, but the reality is this should work very well. Open it just a little bit. Here's some water flowing. We've got water shooting exactly where I didn't want it to be. I wanted a little hole. I was really kind of hoping that would angle down in the hole right there. We'll just get that turned on the rest of the way. That way she's got full pressure going here. We'll open this up just to trickle and we're going to start shoveling. There we got it. Fixing a leak in my mother-in-law's garden. Quick, simple PVC repair. We had to run out, get like five bucks in parts. She had some parts. She didn't have some. It's all good, you know. And we also we reuse that hose bib. Saved ourselves 12 bucks. I really hope the videos are helping.
