What happens here

To eliminate any visible gaps between the composite top rail (often referred to as a cocktail rail) and the underlying metal railing brackets, a specialized routing technique is employed. Mark the exact areas on the underside of the composite board where it will sit over the low-profile brackets. Using a router, carefully cut a shallow channel into the composite board matching the profile and depth of the bracket. This allows the composite top rail to sit perfectly flush with the top of the metal post and seamlessly cover the brackets, creating a clean and integrated look without daylight showing through.

Goal: Precisely route the underside of the composite top rail to sit flush over the railing brackets and posts.
