DONT GET BURNED! How to Buy a good Used Skid Steer, wheels v/s tracks and more!

What happens here

Inspect the engine compartment and surrounding areas. Check the hydraulic lift cylinder for the cab (if applicable) for leaks. Examine the diesel fuel cap for any signs of tampering or damage. Open the rear engine compartment door and look at the radiator and cooling fins; ensure they are clean and free of excessive debris. Check the engine oil filler cap and dipstick for grim or grit, and ensure the oil level is correct. Some owners may taste the oil to check for antifreeze contamination (though this is not recommended for safety). Check the air filter housing and pop open the cover to visually inspect the air filter for excessive dirt. Ensure the alternator belt is properly tensioned (listen for squeaking upon startup). Check the fuse panels for any signs of corrosion or contamination. Note if the rear protective cage is bent or damaged, which could indicate rough use.

Goal: Assess the condition of the engine, cooling system, and related components
