What happens here

This video documents the process of acquiring a new Wood-Mizer LT40 portable sawmill, including the journey to the dealer, hands-on training on operating the sawmill (demonstrating log cutting, debarking, and hydraulic log turning), and a detailed overview of its features and benefits, such as the engine, hydraulic components, control panel, and warranty. It also emphasizes the value of dealer support and purchasing new equipment. Please note: This video is about acquiring and learning to operate a portable sawmill, not 'stump grinding with chainsaw attachments' as per the specified context.

hey there folks this is josh stoney ridge farmer welcome back to the farm we are headed off the farm i got daddy stoney ridge and we're cruising down to pick up the wood mizer lt40 sawmill so today's video is going to be a little bit fun we're going to show you the sawmill we're going to talk to you a little bit about the ownership of a wood mizer sawmill when you purchase one brand new they send you through a class which is pretty interesting so today me and pops are going down we're going to take the class i'm not sure if they'll let us film down there but we'll let you know right quick so come along today as we talk about what it's like on your first day of picking up your wood mizer sawmill it's going to be awesome we'll take you around the mill and show you what we got all right [Music] so guys as we pull into the wood miser parking lot right here i was super duper excited wood miser holds a class so if you buy a meal from wood miser they'll hold a class for you and this class can last from anywhere from two hours to about three to five to seven hours as long as it takes for you to be able to be moderately proficient with the machine and to know the ins and out of safety that way you don't tear your mill up by hooking something or tearing a blade up or just tearing it apart because there's so many moving parts on here what you're seeing there is the blade cutting and the debarker you'll get a lot more detail on the youtube channel as we go on so i'm learning i'm watching observing this is the hydraulic log turner and that'll turn it up the stays that hold the log in place are also hydraulic so this mill is basically a big time saver a big labor saver and it's going to be a money maker for me here on the farm to make a little bit of side money i'm pretty excited about that so we're running one more cut here and he's showing me again how to slab this log and this is an old turd of a log but it really turned out some beautiful pine lumber this is a southern yellow pine and you see how fast it comes back that's all hydraulically driven it's hydraulically driven through the log hydraulically driven back and this is me so we're learning the computer system you can see i'm a little cautious i'm going about half as fast as he was and then a minute you'll see us looking at the log but i'm learning here uh this will be a project for sure so i'll get out here and get a little bit more proficient with it learn as we go and you guys will know what to expect when you're getting into a sawmill i had no idea what to expect it's a huge investment an lt40 is a very expensive machine but i think it's going to pay off in the long run i think we'll be able to build some cabins and some buildings here on the farm the old timey way it's gonna be great so just special thanks to wood mizer let's talk about the mill all right guys we are at wood mizer of the carolinas and we're in oakboro and or red cross a small community of red cross gotcha and that you are the only this is joe joe is the only dealer in north carolina for wood miser gotcha south carolina awesome awesome so we're going to go over this machine is that right we're social distancing guys so it's a little difficult the social distance in a uh a selfie format but we're uh we're gonna go over this machine real quick with joe we're getting ready to pull it home we've got the unicorn all hooked up to it and we call it beauty and the beast and dad's back here hanging out at the tailgate so joe let's go over this wooden mizer lt40 i just let him talk about it let's do what josh has chosen here is the lt40 standard hydraulic with the upgraded 38 horse electronic fuel injected coal command pro so he's got full hydraulics here on this end as you look back at the engine you'll see the engine hydraulic loading arm he got hss which is hydraulic side support links of course he has simple set computer lubemizer and 21 foot of cut length 36 inch diameter but he got the wide head version which gives him 34 inch throat between logs so you can cut some very massive logs with it okay this unit comes with the trailer package which is standard equipment there's no additional charge he added the lubemizer which is a really good add-on then of course the control panel this mill comes standard with auto clutch to turn the blade on and off speed control power blade guide arm debarker controls are operated with your left thumb then the simple set computer is all operated from here touch pad uh it's very compact very easy to learn to operate and of course we go through a rather extensive uh training package with it i've told a lot of guys you'll feel like you're drinking out of a fire hose when we start we can stop at any time we want you to feel very comfortable with these meals when you pick them up so guys when i came down here i met joe and i called you on the way down because i was going to go look at a used wood miser that was an lt30 and the cost of the used wood miser was just about equal to the cost of a brand new one so if you're considering getting a wood mizer sawmill first thing search craigslist search facebook marketplace search all these places and see where the used market is and then call a guy like joe or whatever state that you're in and find out because you may find out that you're gonna buy a meal with 200 300 500 hours that somebody has lightly used yet you can get a brand new mill for just as cheap with what kind of warranty does this machine have five years on the mainframe two years on other components gotcha engines depending on which ends you get may have an extended warranty on them awesome so if you buy this piece of equipment from the dealer you've got the dealer as a resource and you're going to have some hiccups there's a learning curve to using every piece of equipment so having joe as a resource and your son works here too right yes so having joe and tyler tyler tyler's his son um having joe and tyler to to be a resource for me is super awesome plus i can call the corporate offices of wood mizer at any time right so one thing that's really great about wood miser is we are spread out across the country if you're sawing here in north carolina late on a friday afternoon we've already closed and you have something you want to find out of you've got an issue you can pick up the phone and call any location west of here california is still open for three more hours and they will help you like you walk through the door shop awesome so that's that's why we bought a new wood miser versus going around and chasing a used wood miser that really they don't have any problems anyway so use versus new customer service warranty that's what it's all about for me uh being a comfortable as a consumer so joe we got airshake thanks so much i appreciate it this is the i guess second most expensive piece of equipment that we'll ever have well that we have on the farm until we buy our 100 horsepower tractor so super excited guys this bring a lot of potential to the channel for building our house for earning income side income on the farm because when you're farming you got to diversify your income and right there is a big pile of diversified income and i can't wait to use it guys so thanks a lot for joining us here uh joe give joe a call if you're here local in north carolina and you're interested in a wood miser give them a call get a price check them out man these are super awesome wood mizer is not a sponsor of the youtube channel this is me and dad's fun project and uh and joe's been an awesome part of it so thanks a lot guys i appreciate it we're going to tow this thing home probably get on a few more videos in a couple weeks we've got beauty and the beast the unicorn hook to the other unicorn thanks a lot guys we'll see you next time on the stony ridge farm channel i appreciate you pound that like button jump in here subscribe come on back and see us work this wood miser all right that's the way it's supposed to be stoney red
