DIY Twin Built-in Bunk Bed For Kids

What happens here

Obtain 4x6s for the main posts and 2x6s for horizontal supports. If necessary, run the boards through a thickness planer to remove imperfections and achieve a smooth finish. Trim off any rounded-over edges using a table saw to create clean, square edges. Cut the 2x6 boards to the required lengths based on the mattress dimensions (e.g., 38.5 inches wide and 76 inches long). Fill any knots or imperfections in the wood with wood filler and sand smooth with 120-grit sandpaper. Use a pocket hole jig to drill three pocket holes at each end of the 2x6 pieces, which will be used to attach them to the 4x6 posts.

Goal: Acquire and dimension lumber (4x6 and 2x6) for the main bed frame posts and horizontal supports, then prepare them for joinery.
