Deck Refinishing | How-To Clean, Strip, Sand, Restain

What happens here

Prepare the new stain by thoroughly stirring the Behr Premium Waterproofing Stain & Sealer (semi-transparent, in a grey color) with a stir stick. Pour the mixed stain into the Handy Paint Tray. Apply two coats of the stain to the entire deck surface using a deck roller. For the pergola, apply one coat. When applying, it's generally recommended to work with the grain of the wood, although the presenter noted no significant quality difference when applying this particular product against the grain. Use painter's tape to protect any adjacent surfaces, like house siding, from accidental stain application. Allow the first coat to dry completely before applying the second, and then let the entire project dry overnight before walking on the deck or placing furniture back.

Goal: Apply the new waterproofing stain and sealer to the deck and pergola for protection and aesthetic improvement.

yourself when it comes to my new stain I decided to try some products from Bayer this particular product I decided to get the premium version mostly because they're saying that the stain can last a lot longer they're saying that on decks it'll last for years instead of two and on fences will last eight years really curious to try I did stay within the semi-transparent family for one reason specifically I know that stain tends to either rub off and phase or chip like a solid paint stain so in my situation I think I'd rather reapply an extra coat as opposed to having to re-sand the chip surfaces or even strip the area again once I applied two coats to the deck and one coat to the actual pergola itself I let the product dry overnight before starting to walk on it now when it comes to actually rolling the Stefan typically just like woodworking the recommendations always apply with the grain itself but in my situation I tried going side to side or against the grain if you will and I didn't see any change in quality so this stuff is pretty strong it's pretty durable and I'm really curious to let you guys know how this lasts in two years and even better in the last four years how they promising
