DECK FRAMING - Finding A Rotted Ledger and More Fun Stuff!
What happens here
Once the new pressure-treated lumber is in place, a layer of self-adhering ice and water shield is applied over the entire repaired section. This membrane acts as a crucial moisture barrier, preventing water from penetrating the wood and causing future rot. The membrane is carefully unrolled and pressed firmly against the wall, ensuring full coverage and a tight seal.
Goal: A self-adhering ice and water shield is applied to fully cover and protect the newly installed bottom plates and rim joist against future moisture damage.
