Dale Earnhardt's Early Days: Inside Rod Osterlund's Former Race Shop with Doug Richert! (Crew Chief)

What happens here

Art leads the way upstairs to the mezzanine. This area, which originally served as a parts storage and specialized 'dyno room' (dynamometer testing room), has been converted into a lounge area with a pool table and other recreational items. The stark contrast between its current use and its past functionality as a vital part of the race shop operation is evident. Doug mentions that the cage-like structure for expensive parts is no longer there.

Goal: Observe the transformation of the mezzanine from industrial use to a lounge area.
