This is how a house collapses. Mistakes during construction can be costly. When a window sill is installed, a plate is installed , and you get insects. They can easily crawl under the windowsill slab. If we apply a layer of sealant, install a window sill seal, and tighten it, these insects won't be able to get through. If your subfloor is cut and not centered on the joist, and the nails are poorly secured, the subfloor may slip off the joist. If there is no interlocking in the space between the joists or you do not install tongue and groove plywood, perpendicular seams can easily buckle. Using ring nails is good. Installing screws may be a better option. Regardless of the attachment, it is best to use adhesive for the subfloor. When your walls are framed, nail the bottom plate to the joist. If this wall does not receive proper nail placement, it may slide off the subfloor. If you don't level these walls in height, it can destroy the entire structure. When installing corners, improper nailing will cause that corner to split. If the beam is not nailed correctly , it can easily come off. If your nails are not driven too shallowly, it is much stronger. If all the nails for the sheathing are missed , then the sheathing will not do much good . For your roof, if you don't install ice and water protection or roofing felt and water gets under your shingles, it will seep in and damage your roof tiles. If starter tape is installed or if the nails are low, water can blow under your shingles. Or the nails are too high, a strong wind could blow these shingles away. Without a rafter or ridge beam, if loads are applied to your roof , it can cause your ridge to sag and your wall to bow. If there is no house siding, your siding may be damaged by water. When installing siding, if the nails miss the stud, they can break out. Most houses don't collapse because of one big mistake. This usually happens when all the errors accumulate.
