Create Hanging Loop and Adjust Length

What happens here

Determine the desired hanging height for the cabbage. The ideal height is approximately 5 to 10 inches off the ground, allowing the chickens to comfortably peck at it without it being too low (which could lead to contamination or being buried in litter) or too high (making it inaccessible). Once the desired length is found, create a loop at the top of the string by folding it over and tying a strong knot, such as a double overhand knot. If using a hook, tie the loop directly onto the hook.

Goal: Prepare the string for hanging at the correct height.
