CAN YOUR DECK DO THIS?!

What happens here

On the *underside* of your chosen wooden surface, precisely mark the outline of the wireless charging coil. Using a router fitted with a straight bit, carefully create a recess (or pocket) within the marked area. The depth of this recess is critical: it should allow the wireless charging coil to sit snugly while leaving a specific thickness of wood (as determined in the planning stage, e.g., 3mm to 12mm) between the top of the coil and the top surface of the wood. This remaining wood acts as a conduit for the wireless charge. Make sure the recess is deep enough for the coil to fit without protruding, but shallow enough to maintain optimal charging distance. Use clamps to secure the wood piece if it's not permanently installed to prevent movement during routing.

Goal: Create a precise, hidden pocket for the charging coil.

Tools and materials

  • Clamps — Securing the wooden surface during routing
  • Ear Protection — Protecting ears from router noise
  • Pencil — Marking the recess outline
  • Router — Creating the recess for the wireless charging module
  • Safety Glasses — Protecting eyes from wood chips and dust
  • Straight Router Bit — Cutting the recess
  • Wooden Surface — The surface being modified
