(16,849 characters)One of the next things we're doing here is laying out our lighting for our riser. So, we're running our low voltage line everywhere that we need lights, which is two sets of steps over there, set of steps here, and our transformer is going to be inside the outdoor kitchen. So, um, very simple. The only part that gets a little bit tricky, you know, you got to mess around with is on wraparound stairs like this. I don't like to just do like two lights, two lights, two lights cuz at the corners it just kind of looks a little bit odd to me. So this is where we kind of play around with it, try to find just what's going to kind of look the best and make the most sense. So we like to stagger them. So so far I've got one light in the middle here, light there, light there, light in the middle. And I'll just play around with it a little bit till I really like how everything looks and uh just make sure that it that it makes sense and kind of looks symmetrical without being too symmetrical cuz we got the wrap around. So we'll come up with something good. [Music] All right, got our whole layout here. You can see how they're staggered. I played around with the spacing a little bit and I prefer to do that. So, here we have 4T between uh each light. I shortened it a little bit here just so it makes sense. Like the things that I want to be aware of are that these two lights on this inside corner are pretty close to the same. Same thing here. And we don't want it too close to the corner. So, we've got it here. So, these were uh these were actually 40 in apart. And here we've got 42 in apart. So, they're all slightly different, but this way to the eye, I think it looks most pleasing. So, uh those are good to go. We'll wrap the front of those, get our lights installed, and keep it moving here. Getting on to some of the cool stuff. So, let's go. [Music] Do you want us to all come up here as like human bodies to kind of stand in the places that humans will be standing? >> Uh, I don't think so. I think I think the tape is going to it's going to do that job pretty well. Uh we're working with limited space here, so really trying to tape out everything. Chairs, table, uh getting the exact size of everything. And something I thought about which I think could be really cool is actually doing instead of chairs on this side, we can do like a bench, >> built-in bench, maybe potentially a floating bench. So, you know, you can kind of get the feet a little bit underneath of that bench. You know what I mean? >> Okay. >> Need a couple, you know, couple extra inches. It's a game of inches here. So, we want to have enough room for this without it being too crowded, but you know, we're going to go with a smaller size table here. But really, we want to maximize this bar space. That's what we want to do. We want to get this as big as possible without it being too tight with the table. So, um, what we're playing around with is potentially doing a, uh, fridge right in our at the end of our bar top, but that's going to cut into We have the fridge facing this way. >> We're going to cut into our seating space about 2 ft. >> So, >> we're really close on being able to fit four uh, stools. That would be the absolute minimum we would want to do here. So, taping this out. Going to go over it with the client and make a decision on whether we want to bring this out a tiny bit further. We can still have a little bit of room for that. Or do we eliminate the fridge inside this bar top? That's going to give us two extra feet of stool space here. So, just really trying to lay this out because once we build it, it's not going to move. the table. We're not gonna have much flexibility there either. We're gonna get as close to the wall as possible. So, uh, that's what I'm trying to do here. Everything's going to be built in. Built-in bar, potentially a built-in, uh, bench seat for the table, built-in couch. So, we want it to be right on. Once it's built, it's not changing. What do you think? >> I think that's great. If we do a bench there, can it have a hinged for storage? >> If we do what? >> A bench there. Can it have a hinged lid for storage? >> Potentially, but I really like the idea of it just being a floating uh bench top. The other thing, if we do a if we do a fridge at the end of this bar, we have to make the bar a lot wider. So, this is laid out for that as skinny as we can possibly make it while fitting a fridge in here. It's like about 31 32 in deep. >> Can I ask why they don't want the fridge? >> Um, yeah. You know, if we do one in the kitchen, you know, it's just a little bit further away. Ideally, you know, it'll be right here. It's right in the center of the action. You don't have to go outside of the roof covering. Um, you know, but not a huge deal. If we're not going to put it here, we're going to put it in the in the outdoor kitchen. So, >> interesting stuff. So many options. >> A lot of options. >> This is the high level stuff you got to think about. You got to think about this stuff cuz you could design the coolest, you know, best looking space, but if every time they come out here, they're like, "Damn it, I don't have enough room to walk through here. This sucks." That's not good. We don't want that. >> We're only building it once. What? >> That's on you. >> That'll be on me and I don't need that. So, take this very seriously. Beautiful [Music] day. [Music] How we can [Music] Hi everybody. Happy Friday. >> What are you doing, Nick? >> I am getting this ducted out from in the basement area to looped around to out over here. >> Okay. All right. So, just 190. That's >> 190. Yep. >> Couple different lengths. Is already been put together and sealed, so it's not coming apart. It was a pain in the butt to put together. Now I got to get a PVC uh pipe lifted up to feed it into there. >> Oh yeah. Okay. >> It's sagging kind of low. I might >> I get something right here and prop it up right on the corner. [Music] All right, I'm finally finally back full time now. maternity leave is over and uh although I've been kind of hopping in and out and now now I'm back back got to get back to work and uh it's really coming along here. So let me give you a little update and kind of brief you on what's going to be next cuz we've got some really cool stuff. Starting to starting to tie it up here. We've got Mr. Anthony here doing some borders. We have um triple border going in. So, we've got uh 3 and 1/2 in Kaya, 7 and 1/4 Costa, and 3 and 1/2 in Kaya there. You can see we're matching it all the way around here. We've got it on our stairs. I really prefer this detail lately where we do a 7 and 1/4 and a 3 and 1/2. I just think it it looks nice. Um, and I've really preferred lately doing our accent color on the inside of that border. So from the outside, I just think the border and the skirting being the same color just really looks nice. So what we're going to be working on next is going beam up. We've got some decorators dark slate going around all of our beams and posts. And then we're going to be doing some Maximo thermo on our sophets. We got some PVC going up. So we'll be getting to that in a little bit. And uh we'll show you how we attack that detail because it's just a really nice look. Instead of doing a traditional like uh vinyl set, adding in that material that we're going to be using on the roof just elevates the whole look so much. So, we'll show you the details on that pretty soon. And uh get after it. What's going on, mate? >> Just taping this wall. >> Beautiful. We've got the back of our couch here. We're doing a built-in couch. And you'll see on a lot of our stuff, we either do tape over the framing or we'll paint it. Here, you know, we've already got finished deck boards uh on our skirting. It's just easier to tape it. So, one way or the other, doesn't really make a difference which way you go, but uh we just want to tape this front side. So, in here, you can see, well, you can't see any framing. So, uh we're going to have this be the back of our couch. We've got this set up for a 7 and 1/4 in board to go here like so across there. And uh it's going to look really nice. All right. So, at this point, um I'll start sealing this stuff. We'll get set up to like have it ready to roll. Start with the sophets tomorrow. Sure. >> Do you have the brake? >> Yeah. >> All right. Sweet. So, we just got our Maximo thermo delivered. See? Right here. We've got our 1x six tongue and groove. This is the Ause. Um, you've seen us use this before probably. We've also got, let's see, the fluted profile. The thing I'm really excited about, they've got it in 2x6 material. So, this is 2x6 thermally modified a use. And you'll see what we're doing with this. That's going to be for our TV wall. It's going to have that exposed edge on it. So, wanted something a little bit thicker and excited to try it. So, we're going to do a clear sealer on this. I'm going to get these sealed up for our sophets cuz they're going to be smaller pieces. Just be easier to do it now. And we'll get those ready so tomorrow we can jump up on the sophets and everything and get it rolling. Let's go. [Music] Yeah. Heat. [Applause] Heat. [Music] Hey, [Music] hey, hey. [Music] Looking good, Ets looks pretty good, too. It's >> not done yet. >> Yeah, really nice detail here. Been able to do uh this maximum the remote to match our ceiling. Relatively easy thing to do. Um, and it just kind of elevates the whole look. The one thing that, um, you know, you kind of want to be a little bit aware of is just knowing that it's going to differentiate it from the rest of the house. So, sometimes when it ties into a different roof, maybe you decide to go with something else. But, uh, I always feel like, you know, even if it might stick out a tiny bit where it meets some vinyl sophet on the rest of the house, uh, it's still worth doing cuz it just adds such a cool look, especially with a gable wall like this. You just see that, uh, wood material going all the way up and it looks awesome. Matches everything else. So, um, it's looking really good. You can see our our detail here. So, we've got our Maximo. We pre-sealed this stuff uh, just so it's it's easier. And then we've got our our capping going over top of that covering up that edge. And then we'll have our PVC material hanging down about a/4 in from there. So that is our uh kind of our step detail of how we install this. And you can see we'll tuck our PVC right behind our uh drip edge here. So make sure you're aware of that before you put your roofing on. um know what thickness material you're going to have on here. If you don't communicate that with the roofers, they're probably going to put the drip edge tight to that, figuring that you're going to do aluminum capping. But, uh we made sure to specify that and we even put in spacers there. So, uh we got that detail nailed and we'll get this kind of starting to starting to get finished up and then work on our beam detail. So, uh, wrapping this. That's all going to be decorators dark slate and get beam up done. [Music] >> Hey, Sean. >> Yeah. >> You about to build this bench? Don't you dare ever again disrespect the couch that I'm building. Call it a bench cuz it's not a bench, it's a couch. And there's a huge difference in the comfort build comfortability of it. So, we're building the couch and it's going to be >> It starts off as a bench until you add a back to it, right? [Music] >> Yeah, I guess so. Yeah. You got me there. You going to help me out? 18. >> Yep. [Music] It's going to be nice. So, this will be our counter top here. Then, we'll have a tiny ledge on the back side of our couch. And yeah, booked right there. Whatever. [Music] [Applause] [Music] [Applause] Heat. Heat. [Applause] [Music] Heat. [Music] Love how this gable turned out. Looks awesome. We've got the uh the one kind of sort of important detail here. We've got our we like to call it a shadow board. Uh this secondary piece of dark slate here. And then we've got our drip cap over top. And this brings us out far enough where the Maximo fluted is now behind that so it doesn't sit prouder than our trim. and just gives it nice little step detail and it gives it uh the fluted something to sit on top of which looks nice. So now we're moving to the inside. We've got uh couple important things happening here. We've got our rafter locations getting marked out and which bay our lights are in. More than anything, anytime we post a time lapse of our ceilings going up, I guess people don't know what recessed lights look like, but it's a little box right here. It's not a junction box. It's for the lights. And you run on the ceiling and then you cut out for the lights cuz they just go in. It's a little wafer. It plugs in to that end. So, we get a million comments about that. We're going to run the whole ceiling, then we'll cut that out. The other thing that we are uh doing here is speaker. So, we're just making sure that all that stuff is marked out and we know where it's at. So, when we run the ceiling, um we are good to go. So, getting the speaker wire up into the areas we need it and good to go. I'm also going to work on finishing up this bench today. It's taking me a couple days. So, I've gotten distracted, pulled all the other things. But, uh, we're going to we're going to finish this up. I want to get the, uh, the seat done first because then we're going to have our back pieces at an angle. And, uh, it'll just be easier for them to die on top of the deck boards. And then we'll trim that out as well. But, uh, didn't get crazy with doing any type of basket weave or anything in the corner. I didn't want to have solid blocking all the way throughout this corner. So, this is all going to covered with uh cushion anyway, so doesn't really matter. But, this is going to be awesome. It's going to be really nice. And once uh once I finish up all the framing of this, I'll run down the dimensions and details of this again. So, uh you kind of get a sense of why this is going to be more comfortable than just a typical bench seat that you might see on the deck. Heat. Heat. [Music] Hey, hey. [Music] Heat. Hey, Heat. [Music] All right. Well, we got our custom couch uh pretty much finished up here. I keep wanting to call it a bench by accident, but it's not a bench. It's like an anti-bench. A bench, I think, is not comfortable. A couch is comfortable. So, that's the main difference in my mind. Now, a couple things go into that. The best way to do this is to just sit on a couch that you have at your house that you find comfortable and then mimic the dimensions of that. So, a lot of times I see benches built too high. This right here, we're at 11 1/2 in. We are going to have a 6-in cushion on top. So, that's going to be 17 1/2. 18, I would say, is like, you know, really as high as you want to go. A little bit lower than that. Cushion's going to have a little bit of flex to it. So, um, we're at 17 and 12 with that. Then the depth on this. A lot of benches I see, they're going to be like really shallow, so the person's going to have to kind of like sit up like this the whole time. We want to we want to lounge in this bad boy. So we've got 27 1/2 deep. 27 1/2 deep because we also have a 4 in cushion on the back. So once we take that into account, we're going to be at 23 and 12. So, right around 24 in deep for our usable seat space is what we want. And then the other thing is your reclinization. The amount of recline. It's definitely a word. Uh you want the ideal angle here of your seat and your back to be somewhere between 100 and 105°. So take into account whether you want to recline your seat a tiny bit like in an Aderondac chair for example or in this case a lot of couches you're going to have a flat seat and a recline back. So we've got 10° on the back side here. Um and we've built this out to mimic a couch. We've got the cushions that are going to go on here. So when this thing's done it's going to it's going to look feel function like a very nice comfortable couch that was built exactly for this space. So, you're going to have to wait for the next video to see the cushions come in. We'll get to that in one of the future videos. Uh, we want to wait till everything's cleaned up before we put those on here so that we don't get them dirty. But that's it for this video. Make sure you hit subscribe because we are not even close to done on this project. So many cool details coming. So, uh, like, subscribe, all of that. Until next time, this has been Premier Outdoor Living.
