(18,475 characters)sometimes my mouth says words that my brain are like no take that back but it's already been spit out so even as I was saying I'm like wait a minute is that right and then I'll a sudden I'm talking about something else is that a squirrel over there oh I yep you have your vibrator oh baby so we're looking at Alex's extreme version of building out a snowplow truck yard and a half and then I put the brine sprayer back there which is heavier you know being 300 gallons and we're going to go over some very critical uh salt and brine numbers now this is the guy that invented vssi and uh uses um Bry now exclusively in your [Music] business good morning one and all we're building out a brand new snowplow truck we're at Chris steel and uh we're going to walk in and see how this is going now we're not just adding uh snowplow components we're actually taking this truck from a stock F350 to actually something designed specifically for snow plowing uh Cody how are you buddy good how are you st good good to see you again yeah how's the truck coming good we're almost done with it um kind of just doing the check out right now cool so we got the vbx 8000 that we're putting on it but it's a vbx plus so it is different than your other one so when we get over there I'll show you some of the differences so what Cody's talking about is last year we put on the vbx yeah the Nal vbx rock salt spreader and now you guys have a brand new spreader that just came out we're one of the first that are getting it yep yep only got a couple out there right now so yep and so he's going to you're going to show us the differences yeah yep we'll go through them all right cool let's go let's see what we got cooking in the back all right let's start right from the front we went with the boss dxt Cody walk me through this one will you yes this is a 92 dxt yep um so this has the trip Edge and the way this works is this is actually part of the plow so you wear your blade down to right above the holes and then actual blade goes over the top of it this part comes off so when you do wear down a Cutting Edge you actually use this part of it but it's like a free Cutting Edge for the first one um yours has a flap you put the boss flap on it um it also trips like a normal vxt got so it's a dual trip just to make sure that we understand this yep a lot of them are either trip Edge and then the full moboard don't trip this one actually has both of them both of them yep okay and then the other Advantage is uh heated LED lights super bright lights um and then it has the same hookup as all boss units have had since pretty much the beginning um so the the only change they had early ones had 11 Pin and for the last 15 years they've had 13 pin so same connector so this truck hooked to any boss ball in the last 15 years or so oh nice um and then same hook up with the smart hitch so you just put in float and that little switch on the side over by you hit that on and off and it actually moves the actual head unit for you okay um and then this one is a down Force so what that means you can put down pressure on it beautiful oh Beauty she's going to scrape all right so now we went with stain steel yep and there's is some questions on why what is the advantage of a stainless steel blade Cody can you go over that with us yeah so like obviously mild steel with the powder coat holds up nice and they they sell a ton of them these ones will never rust that that moboard so you'll see some older ones that you know when they where they got damaged they they'll rust this one can get a ding or a dent and it won't rust um this actual piece right here is all replaceable so if you damage just this part of it you don't have to buy a whole Wing you can actually buy buy just this section and it's actually the same section as a poly so if you want to change it to a poly for whatever reason you can change it to a poly oh okay now well you can actually get these to rust if you etch them if you are in the high salt concentrations and you get etching in there you get a kind of a gr it's not going to rust like regular one it won't rust through you know but you could get you could get some like TR really just metal transfer is what you're going to see so anytime you take an impact you might have that metal transfer you might see some Rust lines on there y but like we in house we do a lot of stainless builds we do big Municipal trucks we actually have acid etching that we can take a lot of that off too okay okay now let's go to the back yep uh because now let's take a look at this new spreader that you got this is not all we've done to this truck Alex and Tim are coming we're going to show you what else we've done to this truck to prepare it for winter we've done a lot besides what you see here but I do want to cover this spreader because this is a brand new spreader by you guys now the vbx plus goes out Works off the same platform as the vbx yep they are discontinuing the vbx line and going to the plus eventually so they will do a running change with that okay um but the advantage of the plus right now is you can track your salt usage yes you can go up to 10 jobs you can actually on the controller and we'll see that in a little bit but you just hit a button and say you're going to another job you can track your salt per job right which is good for you guys to know how much you put down sliping Falls man slip and falls for sure okay I mean that's protection against slip and fall lawsuits track huge with that you got these ones will have an actual module on here a data communication so this is the new Molex plug with it which is amazing it's it's awesome so as you can see it's pretty stout okay it's got less wires in it two big terminals than your communication wires um comes with a really nice Mount that makes it secure um you got your new spreader ones that have the dead ends up here so when you're not using it you just plug it in here um easy open hatch which is basically pull a pin and you can access either to dump into a bucket if you want to fill your bucket with a button on the side down here so you can you can just hit that button and dump salt in the side um otherwise it's easy access easy to the modules everything's accessible right here it's got an upgraded motor so it's a 3/4 Pinel motor it's a/2 in horsepower motor or half sorry half horsepower um spinner motor down there um so more refined let's go take a look at the controller yeah inside um now one of the things that I noticed when you said tracking is it the same tracking system as uh vssi uses and you get well you guys actually this is another boss product so and this vssi has the tracking that's that's actually helped us almost double our accounts we got a ton of new salt accounts because of that didn't we Timmy yeah yeah because of that tracking capability is now in that and when you get buy something that increases your business I mean it legitimately we have requests because of that tracking capability is it the same or different so this one is basically salt usage right now okay and so it's not not necessarily like Geo fencing where you can actually trace it out right now okay now all that capability is in there that they can upgrade the software and stuff at a later date so I actually upgrade yours with a computer so I plug my laptop into it and I upgraded put new software and all that in there so it does have a diagnostic port communicating with the module and that so okay but I got to stop you right there because you may not have Geo fencing on this unit y but Horizon 360 has it and now Horizon 360 will communicate with this so Timmy if we send this truck out to a freaking job site in Michigan could be two states away you and I can sit in our office and we can know exactly where that truck is every single pass it's made we can at in real time watch it operating we know where it's been when it's been and how it's been so that by by coordinating that with Horizon 360 you have full capability of understanding what your piece of equipment is doing what is and it's not just this this new capability in that computer program will allow you to do it with mowers skid loaders dozers excavators they got this little tracking module that hooks up up to the battery and then you know everything your equipment is doing you also they've got an app well Timmy you don't know this they've got an app Cody maybe you do where if a guy punches in he can punch in on the app you can tell where he was at when he punches in so if he's busy getting his boots on and his socks on at home and decides it's time he's working he punches in we can look from the office go no you're not on a job site you're taking a crap at home you're punching in it's not happening Brother your time did not start yet that's Horizon 360 so even though this doesn't have that capability your system by Toro which is owns boss which is communicating with all of these other companies I mean vssi boss owns vssi now go but let's go in and take a look at this uh the controller ignition hot um so when you turn your key on you just got to hit that that left button there brings up the menu so like right now you can go right now it's on pounds per m per minute okay so you do have to calibrate it for that um which there's instructions how to do that but this control is very simple right off the bat you just pick how many pounds per minute you want it to go how many feet you want that spinner to spread out and then you can start it and it's running I hear it mhm um the Pinel chain does not come standard with a vibrator but your augur does you yep you vibrator oh baby y she's a vibrating that's Timmy's favorite thing he likes to just sit on top of the Salter when it's vibrating you know it man his wife is like when it's my turn let's let's drag Timmy's family into these off off colored comments all right th this is really neat to me you can pick work light which will turn on your back work lights okay you can hit strobe or you can hit both which is really cool right from this control and you can change your pattern in the back which I was just showing them um so Timmy Timmy why to get your crotch out of my face so yeah so all from the push of a button you can do you put turn your strobes on you can hit blast vibrate start and stop at a soft switch okay um so right now you it's just on on hold right there but you do have your work strobes on and stuff like that to change jobs you just go say it's job six you're going to you do that it'll track it all on job 6 um settings you can go in and change a whole bunch of stuff um but as far as like spreader you can go and change the material so if you don't like it to say pounds per um pounds per minute you can go in and change it to say however you want it'll track your salt so we just been running it so you can see how much salt that thingss we put down not just empty running it m mhm um so all sorts of different uh you can get into your jobs see how can you name your jobs too or is it just numbers I think you can yeah um I think you can get in there and name them so if you had different say you got five 10 different job sites yeah you can go in so it actually says that like some you don't do all the time then you can just find them later and yep y so calibrate to actually calibrate so what you're actually doing is it's knowing exactly how much you're putting down and that's really for you Stanley to tell how much you charge and how much your usage is okay so this will let you know exactly what youve put onto a job site which is absolutely huge that's the slip and fall thing so that's when when if you know if you ever and that's some people like to try to nail snowplow companies with slip and Falls other people are are more honest but that's our protection Tim that is our protection knowing that when we put something down and where we put it in so then if you're running different types of salts M uh like say you're doing a salt sand mix or you're doing like a really fine salt you can change the materials so when you calibrate it it's more exact for how much you actually put down oh nice okay perfect so yeah if we if we're running a different salt mix and you know if the temp drops we're running a different salt mix and we want to have a different application rate we we're not we don't have to recal reboot everything we can just go into the setting and pick the right salt mix yep oh dude that's and then um this one you can actually change what type of vibrator pulse you want or or anything so if you want it on all the time you want to pulse you can change that here okay um so the wrong button there but yeah that's pretty that's pretty cool how you can alternating pulse pulse standard is there anything anything else we need to know about that before we move on to the snow plow um so the how you can turn the lights on here is is obviously here but on the back there's two switches um one that you can change your strobe pattern which is really neat right from your switch turn your strobes on and your work lights on from the back so if you don't say you're not in here and you're just going to grab some bucket salt and spread it in you can still have your strobes on your work lights on all that okay but yeah other than that it's it's that's probably about it um as far as like your plow you got the down Force One mhm so that you'll notice it has a red knob so if you ever change them between your trucks the red one's always down force and they're not interchangeable um same connector so go right in so just like a standard one double click we'll put it in to float and then double click again put your down pressure on and you can feel the truck come up a little bit oh yeah they do recommend only using that for back dragging not for forward okay for going forward but more for back yeah well we're going to go over everything with Alex when he gets here when is he on his way yeah yeah let's unhook and hook let's just show these guys if they if they're not familiar with boss let's show these guys after you show me the connect and disconnect we'll go all Tim your truck is here mhm we're going to look at what Tim did with his truck because we're going to do the exact same thing and I want to find out from you because on when you change the ride height of your truck you've got to change your uh you got to change your snow plow to make sure that it it's cutting right it's not just a do it set it and forget it and it's all magically going to work happily together cuz that's not how things work yeah that Center on your Mount that Center hole should be at 15 and2 on a standard 15 and 1/2 in from the ground up get any more adjustment or like if he lifts it it can go down another well if we go down another hole we'd want to put another um another plate on it it just as you go farther down get you about a/ inch right there huh you to yeah it's a I think they're one in between yeah all right well let's uh should we connect and dis and reconnect Cody yep so over here you can see there is a basically a flip lever a lock and an unlock okay there's only one of these red ones it's just to tell you that it's another secured latch um truck must must be in float so the red button red light must be on no down pressure yep no down pressure but still has to be in float that's the only way that this switch is active so then once you have that you press up and then you'll see when they're new they're a little they pop a little bit just a new powder coat then you power this down and then un connect your take your 13 pin off and your two wire and that's all there is to it and then to put it back on same way put those over to the lock button okay and then this one's a little new so it takes just a little bit to get that powder coat so is a size 12 boot required to kick that on no once you drive it down the road once it'll actually take that the little edges off the powder coat okay and once we drive it out of here and run it a few times it it'll come right out yep okay so pretty straightforward pretty simple yeah I mean there's uh nothing to them they call it the uh what what what is it called the the smart hitch smart hitch yeah they're a lot easier than they used to be oh remember we just used to leave them on for a while yeah yeah I do know that all right well let's go out next and take a look at Timmy's truck cuz we want to determine if we're going to have to do anything CU we're doing the exact same thing to Alex's Truck Yeah so one of the things we're going to head out right now and take a look at what Tim did to his truck but one of the things coming up in this video is I'm going to see if I can get Jordan from vssi on uh this video to come on and talk about the differences when you want to brine and when you want to use rock out because some of you guys may be thinking to yourself wait a minute you know I know dirt monkey uses a Brian setup why is he getting a rock salt spreader well there's a time when you may want one and a time when you may want another and we're going to talk to the pro on that so that'll be coming up here but let's go take a look at Timmy's truck and as we look at Timmy's truck let's look at this six tractor the plow and the spreader are just phase one we're not done with this truck in fact we're going to go over to Timmy's truck and show you exactly what we're going to be doing in phase two and my truck is in the shop getting Phase 2 done even as we speak and um we're also going to dive deep into when do you want rock salt spreader like we have in this or do you want a brine spreader because we have both and there's a time and place for one and a time in place for the other and it seems like there's a little bit of confusion on that so I'm actually going to get the guy that created vsi on the horn to answer your toughest most difficult questions and I'm taking questions that you guys have put at me over on Instagram so they're coming right from you and we're going right straight to the horse's mouth and yanking that information out and that's with Jordan from vssi so we got a lot more going on with this truck before it's ready to go out the door and I'm going to share everything with you guys so you know exactly how we're doing it and what we're doing but that's it for this video God bless go get him you guys and stick around cuz part two's around the corner see you later
