Brass Painting Hacks. Instructions Painting A Brass Fireplace Black.

What happens here

Begin the transformation by carefully removing the brass trim from the fireplace. Several small decorative brass plates can be rotated and gently pulled off. The larger brass frames on the glass doors are secured with screws and will need to be unscrewed for removal. The top brass trim piece is also held in place by Phillips head screws and should be detached. Any parts that cannot be easily removed, such as vertical side edges or other integrated components, will be left in place and later masked off for painting.

Goal: Detach all removable brass components from the fireplace for preparation.

so it won't peel. So, these little brass plates, they actually just rotate and pop off. So, we're just going to begin removing them all and begin the prepping process to start painting them. You can see they just all pop off just like this. Come right off. You begin painting them. The side edges, we're just going to mask those off cuz they don't actually come off. The doors, we're going to pull them out. And the brass is actually just screwed on those doors. So, we'll unscrew that, take it off, and then we'll be cleaning, prepping, and painting those. Give you a little bit closer look. We just just grab these things. They just rotate and pop right off. And we can just open up these doors right here. And the doors have screws on it right here that holds this brass on here. We'll just begin removing that. and then continue with our prepping process. We've got the top piece here, too. This piece is actually just held on by some Phillips head screws. I'll just remove these. So, the majority of this brass will actually just come right off. Now, I'm just going to begin removing these top pieces off the doors here. These are glass doors and we got this brass that's surrounding the top piece here. Okay, now we've removed all the brass pieces that are easy to remove. These two a little more complicated. It's easier just to throw some masking paper around these two and these side edges and we can just sand those right in place and spray those right in place. But we got the other ones out here. Here we're going to begin cleaning them with our cleaner and then sanding them.
