Back on the Road: Getting Ready for the Newell Coach Factory Trip! (Finish Air Bags, Other Stuff)

What happens here

Inspect and repair the engine bay door hinges and latch mechanism. The hinges on the RV's engine bay door were bent and the Allen bolt dislodged from the fiberglass due to repeated rough handling. Additionally, the latch mechanism was not functioning correctly because a stud was loose and the mechanism was overextended. The repair involves tightening the loose stud and bending the latch back into proper alignment using pliers to restore correct functionality. JB Weld is also used to re-secure the dislodged Allen bolt, strengthening the fiberglass attachment point.

Goal: Restore functionality and stability to the engine bay door

Tools and materials

  • Pliers — Bending the latch mechanism back into alignment
  • Wrenches/Sockets — Tightening loose studs
  • JB Weld JB Weld — Securing the dislodged Allen bolt to the fiberglass

and on the engine bay door the hinges are all whacked out from getting stuck and getting pulled on like even when i was looking at this thing the old guy was like had a problem getting it so he just kept jiggling and pulling on it well what that did is it dislodged the allen from the fiberglass so the hinge was not unlatching and on top of that the actual stud that it goes onto is loose so it wasn't actually disconnecting so i got to tighten those clean that out and i'm just gonna jb weld that back together because i can and it'll be fine as long as these are tight it'll be okay i had to take these tail light bezels off to pull these bottom two lights out so i could stick my arm down in there and pop that out
