A simple and effective tutorial on how to turn a couple prowood 2x4s in to a useful jobsite horse!

What happens here

With both A-frame leg structures built, it's time to connect them. Take one of the remaining 36-inch 2x4 boards and place it horizontally across the top of one A-frame, aligning it to serve as the main top crossbeam. Securely fasten it to the A-frame using the nail gun. Then, bring the second A-frame into position and attach the other end of the top crossbeam to it, ensuring the sawhorse stands upright and is generally square. Finally, use the last two 36-inch 2x4 boards as additional horizontal braces. Position one brace just beneath the top crossbeam on one side, and the other lower down on the opposite side's 'A' leg. Nail these braces securely to the inner sides of the A-frames, increasing the overall rigidity and stability of the sawhorse.

Goal: Fully assemble the sawhorse by joining the leg structures and adding stabilizing braces.

Tools and materials

  • Nail Gun — Securing the top crossbeam and horizontal braces to the A-frames
