A Look at Specialized Heavy equipment for Waste handling-loaders, excavators, & garbage trucks

What happens here

The presenter meets Todd, a product manager for special applications and attachments at Volvo, who introduces the LC450H Landfill Compactor. Todd explains that this 90,000-pound machine is purpose-built for landfill compaction. He details the 'Terra Twist Torque' cleated wheels, designed to twist and break down trash for better compaction. Todd also highlights various protective features underneath the machine, including 2-inch thick steel belly pans to protect the center pin and other components from punctures. He points out the elevated air intake for the engine to keep it clear of debris, the automatic reversing fan for the radiator to prevent clogging, and the fully protected rear lights and tow hitch, which is integrated rather than protruding to prevent damage.
