A homeowners Nightmare

What happens here

The video introduces the demolition of an old swimming pool. The process begins by preparing the site, which involves laying down plywood to protect existing concrete patios and grass areas from heavy machinery. The initial demolition phase includes using a compact track loader (CTL) equipped with a grapple attachment to break and remove sections of the pool's concrete decking and perimeter. The discussion emphasizes the importance of removing all demolished materials, especially concrete and metal, from the site rather than burying them, to avoid future settlement issues and ensure proper environmental disposal or recycling.

Goal: Prepare the site by protecting surrounding areas and begin the initial demolition of the pool's concrete decking, focusing on removing materials rather than burying them.

Tools and materials

[Music] Oh no. Oh, the sounds of destruction. You guys see all that right there? Custom door delete, man. That hits a special special spot in the back of your brain. Well, good morning everybody. Uh, starting a new site today. It's pool demo. I haven't done a pool demo in a few years. I think the last one that I did was with the Volvo and me and Tim got that thing buried in what was the deep end of the pool. It's been a little bit. Yep. Uh that's it. Starting a pool demo. Let's get to it. [Music] All right. So, here's what we got. The other guys aren't going to be out for a little bit, so we're going to start cutting the liner. And luckily, we don't got to be too careful in the grass and stuff like that, cuz this whole backyard is getting redone, which is nice. The only spot we really got to try to dodge is that corner of the patio there, but we got a bunch of plywood we're going to lay down. Should be good. I don't know why Sam had to bring up that Volvo skid loader. It's the worst piece of trash I've ever sat my butt in. I could not sell that thing fast enough. I could barely get it to a brand new piece of equipment to drive down the street without breaking down. If you want to have a good experience with a Volvo skid loader, what I'm going to recommend you do is go to a Volvo piece of heavy equipment dealer that has them, go into it, try it out, and then walk away without ever spending a dime on one or buying one. And then as you're walking away, congratulate yourself on the best decision you've probably ever made. Because if you had boughten that Volo skid loader, you would be regretting it. They are not worthwhile. But that's not what today's video is about. We're going to be demoing a swimming pool and doing it the right way. What do I mean by the right way? Well, we'll go over that a little later on.
