A homeowners Nightmare

What happens here

After the pool basin is fully backfilled and compacted, the CTL is used for final grading. This involves spreading any remaining fill soil and black dirt evenly across the area, creating a smooth and level surface. The objective is to prepare the site for new landscaping, such as laying sod or planting a garden, ensuring proper drainage and a finished appearance. The removed pool materials, such as concrete, will ideally be sent off-site for recycling.

Goal: Complete the backfilling process by spreading topsoil and grading the entire area to prepare for new landscaping.

loader, what I'm going to recommend you do is go to a Volvo piece of heavy equipment dealer that has them, go into it, try it out, and then walk away without ever spending a dime on one or buying one. And then as you're walking away, congratulate yourself on the best decision you've probably ever made. Because if you had boughten that Volo skid loader, you would be regretting it. They are not worthwhile. But that's not what today's video is about. We're going to be demoing a swimming pool and doing it the right way. What do I mean by the right way? Well, we'll go over that a little later on. [Music] When you demolish a swimming pool, you don't push it in, you pull it out. Everything has to get removed. But not every contractor understands this principle. And a lot of them, even if they do understand it, it takes extra time. It takes extra work, extra expense, and a lot of them cut corners and do things the worst way. If you've hired a contractor to come in and do a demolition and you see them burying things underground, that's your first clue that you better watch them. You better understand what's on your permit. And if pushing and burying debris in the back of your yard is not what you thought you were getting, then you better fire them because just because they're doing it doesn't mean it's right. I had gotten Well, I didn't get hired. I did not get hired to demolish a house and a swimming pool by a contractor that had hired me to do all of the other work on all of his other sites. And a couple months went by and he called me up. He was furious with me. He's like, "Stan, do you remember that house and that swimming pool you were supposed to demolish and remove? Well, you buried the swimming pool and left me a hazardous sight, and now the city has completely shut down all of my projects." And this guy was so furious. I felt like he was spitting on me right through the phone. And I let him go off for a while because I hadn't done the job for him. And I said, "Hey, do you remember that was the one job you didn't hire me for?" And what that taught me was what my competition is doing. And I learned by starting to watch between the lines that a lot of times what you homeowners are thinking you're getting and what contractors are actually giving you aren't the same thing. Just buy or beware. Don't let people bury things in your backyard like that because it can set you up for failure down the road. Guys, I'm going to jump in here because over the years, if you…
