$70,000 Concrete PROBLEMS! I'll never hire another contractor! INTEGRITY!
What happens here
Once the defective concrete is removed, the underlying soil or gravel sub-base is cleared and leveled. A plastic vapor barrier is then laid across the exposed area to prevent moisture from rising through the new concrete. Rebar (reinforcing steel bars) is carefully positioned and secured within the excavated sections, often tied to existing rebar or doweled into the surrounding slab, to provide structural reinforcement for the fresh concrete.
Goal: After removing the old concrete, the exposed sub-base is prepared for the new pour. This involves laying down a plastic vapor barrier and installing rebar to reinforce the new concrete section.
