4+ Interior Painting HACKS!

What happens here

To combat rapid paint drying in challenging environmental conditions such as high temperatures or low humidity, incorporate a latex extender into your paint. For approximately a quart of latex paint, add about one to one and a half capfuls of a latex extender (such as M-1). Stir the paint mixture thoroughly using a paint paddle or stirring stick until the extender is fully and evenly distributed. This additive significantly increases the 'open time' of the paint, providing a longer working window to achieve a smooth and consistent coat. It also aids in the paint's self-leveling properties, effectively minimizing the appearance of brush and roller marks. An 'old school trick' involves adding a small amount of dish soap as an alternative, but users should be aware of potential bubbling that could affect the final finish and should test it in an inconspicuous area first.

Goal: This step shows how to slow down the drying time of latex paint, particularly in hot and dry conditions, by adding a latex extender, which helps improve paint flow and reduces visible brush strokes.
