*1st Spring Clean-up is a MESS!

hey siri what's the weather going to be like this week expect thunderstorms rain and some cloudy skies between today and sunday daytime temperatures will start around 81 degrees and eventually drop to around 54 by friday before heading back up to around 61 with overnight lows between 39 and 64. that's seven days it's monday that's seven days of rain we're short-handed and we gotta get our biggest account cleaned up oh it's go time guys so our biggest account is 46 homes spread over 27 acres with a lot of massive common area originally it was sam and alex that decided to take this on but when we heard the weather forecast we had to change plans pretty fast all right guys and gales good morning i hope everybody had a happy easter i'm no weatherman but it is looking like it's going to be another beautiful day up here in the land of ten thousand lakes uh that being said spring spring has sprung so we have some spring cleanups first one of the year and we it's gonna be at our uh largest commercial account so it's gonna be a lot of walking today i've gotten real good at doing stuff one-handed ever since i started filming for stan see what do we oh dang they squeeze the plows in here all right we need this guy all right let's go so when we heard about the rain and the weather coming in everybody jumped into their cars and came out to the site to help sam and alex so they wouldn't be dang we got the full crew out here timmy's out here and everything god that dude will not miss an excuse to get out of his house alex what's the plan i can't get this uh back onto this tire here so we might have to bring this in we might not be able to use it today i tried to get it back on i couldn't so that's that aftermarket tire it's not solid like the other one i don't know why they switched that out but what's the what's the overall game plan what are we doing we can do is we can blow this pond area out to the front and we can come through we can detach and bag everything in the front area not much detaching on the belt to do barely anything just mainly in the front of her yard over there this boulevard can use a little bit of it okay yeah that looked and i mean honestly the detaching is just a part of the spring cleanup you know it doesn't take any additional time to do it it's just all-in-one what you like to have stink bugs on your shirt my buddy oh he died i must out stunk him [Laughter] yeah i'll strap a blower pack on and uh and then sam's bringing a third one too tell me where to go man yep this is your shell we can just start blowing this pond area here up to the front there's a little smile when we both said did you see that you're like the hell i like the sound oh i like that oh i have power we are we throwing the d thatcher on right away alex so we leave this site up to alex this is kind of his personal baby he knows this site inside and out and what he's doing right now is we're just spot dethatching and i know some of you guys are going what do you mean your spot detaching well we tried to get the account to let us do a full detach over the entire property and it's got to go through executive committees then they need months to make a decision before they can authorize any change in the in the maintenance plan and so we just said the heck with it we know the few areas that we really need to clean up to keep this property looking the right way so we're gonna at least go through and just spot dethatch those areas so that it just looks sharp as a tag so this has that toro easy vac system and as long as the leaves are dry this thing works just like it's supposed to but as soon as those leaves get wet that tube that's going up the side of that will clog up so fun fact my old man is a fantastic photographer and he has all sorts of cool mounts and attachments and stuff like that he's letting me play around with this arm mount here and i am super super excited because we are going to be able to do some cool stuff with this that's going to be cool if you all told me that i'd be getting super excited about camera mounts like two years ago i absolutely would not have believed so i have a question for you guys that do spring and fall cleanups do you move stuff around when you do i got kind of an interesting story on this steel brs 800 backpack blower that i'm using but i'll tell you in a few minutes so we have one steel brs 800 backpack blower and steel actually gave it to us a few years back to do a review on and when we first got it the guys hated it and it's got that self-start feature they couldn't get it to fire right jake's got the backpack blower on right now but after they finally figured this machine out and got it dialed in now everybody fights for it it's the go-to backpack floor and it's powerful [Applause] [Music] danny added some dubstep music [Music] oh he dropped the gopro so if you watch him he's not putting that dethatcher down all the time only when he thinks he needs it and we got to be careful because the whole place is filled with sprinklers so we got to be super careful [Music] at least he got the camera before he got ran over by a car right that is a really nice simple system on that dethatcher it's made by cmp attachments if you guys want one they're up on the board there it's just up down up down nice little lever just easy you can see the lever right there you're not having on it it's just kiss keep it simple stupid [Music] right now this toro is a big fat heavy machine and we can't bring it down to the bottom of the hill down by the pond or she'll go taking a swim on us now i'm going to jump in here and just go over something that a lot of you guys probably know but maybe not everybody does the point of dethatching is to move the excess dead grass which allows the new grass in the spring to make room for it to pop up and to grow so it's important to look for areas where you've got heavy clumping of grass that's where you need dethatching that's why we can spot detach and not have to do everything because we can visually inspect as we go along through the property and just look for the signs and indicators that we may have too much clumping or dead grass lying down and suffocating the rest of the so [Music] hey warmer today than i thought it was going to be a little bit right yeah i got my long pants on too dang so that toro won't come down here with that dethatcher they just can't make it down it's too heavy of a machine too steep of a hill so we come down to the bottom and blow everything up so as i work my way up the hill to blow the grass clippings up you can see some areas are much worse than others and they leave bare spots behind that's what the thatcher does but unfortunately we can't get it down in the lower part of the hill to use a dethatcher so we do it by hand in this area [Music] so as we go across the hill you guys can see we're not blowing any leaves all we're really doing is loosening up all of that subsoil so that the new fresh grass can pop up and through and have a chance to take root [Music] some of you guys wanted the crow update call the crow come here up come on cop up good bird good bird good bird
