Repair Walls and Protect Surfaces

What happens here

After any necessary spackling and drying, thoroughly prepare the stairwell area for painting by protecting all non-paintable surfaces. Lay down drop cloths over the carpeted stairs and any adjacent flooring. Use masking tape along the base of the walls where they meet the carpet to create a clean line and prevent paint from seeping through. For larger areas or between steps, use masking paper, securing it with tape.

Goal: Prepare the walls for painting and protect surrounding areas from paint.
