What happens here
After unrolling the hay, use electric polywire to temporarily fence off the unrolled area. This allows the cattle to access the fresh hay while also controlling their movement across the pasture. The video also shows the subsequent step of using a drag harrow (pulled by a tractor) to break up and spread any remaining concentrated manure piles across the pasture. This practice, known as 'bale grazing' or rotational feeding, ensures nutrients are evenly distributed and helps to reseed the land with beneficial grasses and clovers, improving soil pH and overall pasture health over 2-3 years. The manure from cattle is pH neutral, providing a natural, carbon-rich fertilizer.
Goal: Maximize nutrient distribution and accelerate soil recovery through controlled grazing and manure spreading.
