Open the yellow valve on the Sediment Buster to begin draining the water from the tank into your bucket. Observe the water clarity. Next, connect an air compressor hose with a pressure gauge to the air inlet on the Sediment Buster. Periodically close the yellow drain valve and inject short bursts of compressed air, around 40-50 PSI, into the tank. Immediately open the drain valve again. The bursts of air will agitate the sediment at the bottom of the tank, loosening it so it can be flushed out. You will notice the water becoming progressively murkier as the sediment is released.
Goal: Use compressed air to agitate and flush sediment from the tank.
- Use short, controlled bursts of air. The manufacturer suggests that even a simple bike pump can be used if an air compressor is unavailable.
- Do not exceed the recommended air pressure, as this could damage the water heater.
