After a successful dry-fit, prepare for permanent installation. If necessary, cut the straight pipe section of the slip-joint adapter to the correct length using a pipe cutter or hacksaw. Apply PVC primer, followed by PVC cement, first to the inside of the reducer bushing and the outside of the adapter's pipe, and press them together firmly. Then, apply primer and cement to the inside of the 2-inch drain pipe and the outside of the reducer bushing. Firmly push the combined adapter/reducer piece into the drain pipe, giving it a quarter turn to evenly distribute the cement and ensure a strong bond.
