Put on a pair of protective gloves. Begin loosening the two slip nut connectors on each end of the P-trap by turning them counter-clockwise by hand. If a nut is too tight to turn by hand, use a pair of slip-joint pliers for extra leverage. Once the nuts are loose, carefully wiggle the P-trap downwards to disconnect it. Allow the trapped water and debris to drain completely into the bucket below.
