Perform a final check of the installation. Add additional 2x4 blocking behind the copper tub spout pipe to provide extra rigidity. Secure the tub spout pipe to this new blocking with a pipe clamp and screw. This prevents any future movement of the tub spout. Finally, attach the black plastic plaster guard over the valve body. This guard protects the valve's interior during drywall and tile installation and also acts as a guide for the finished wall thickness.
