Remove Septic Lid — Open Septic Tank Risers
Part of project
Septic System Maintenance · Step 3 of 10
In this video
To access the filter, locate the screws around the perimeter of the middle septic lid. Use an impact driver to efficiently remove these screws. The presenter explicitly mentions using a Makita brand impact driver, but any suitable impact driver or even a hand screwdriver can be used. Once all screws are removed, carefully lift the lid to expose the inside of the septic tank and the filter. Observe the water level; it should be below the filter line. If it's above, do not pull the filter out, as this indicates a potential issue with the leach field that needs to be resolved before cleaning.
