Install Custom Stair Treads — Step 2: Center for a Professional, Polished Look
Part of project
install stair treads · Step 2 of 6
In this video
With the existing carpet removed and the new custom treads unboxed, the installation process begins. The homeowner places each tread onto a stair, using a measuring tape to ensure consistent and accurate positioning across the width and depth of the step. The clear plastic film covering the adhesive backing on each tread is peeled away, and the tread is then carefully pressed down firmly onto the wooden step. This process is repeated for each stair, working from the bottom of the staircase upwards to avoid disturbing previously installed treads.
