To create a seamless, professional look for the trim pieces that will cap the jambs, use a Kreg multi-mark tool to mark a 13/16 inch reveal from the edge of the jamb. This mark will guide the placement of the decorative trim. For the decorative trim that will go on the header, ensure it is cut to the exact length needed (e.g., 55 1/4 inches). This measurement is taken from the inside edge of the vertical casing on one side to the inside edge of the vertical casing on the other side. This will give it the look of a solid piece of wood. The casing legs are then pocket-holed to the header for a strong, hidden connection.
