Test the Fill Valve — Adjust or Replace Fill Valve
Part of project
Running Toilet Repair · Step 7 of 9
In this video
As the tank is refilling, or after it should have stopped, use your finger to gently press down on the top of the fill valve float. This action manually stops the flow of water into the tank, simulating the float reaching its highest position. Listen carefully. If the sound of running water stops when you press down on the float, it indicates that the fill valve is the source of the leak because it is not shutting off on its own.
