Step 3 · Decide: Repair or Replace Your Water Heater?
This is the step people usually slow down on. Go finger-tight first, then a quarter turn. No rush — replay the clip whenever it helps.
If your water heater is 8-12 years old (or older) and exhibits significant wear, replacement is usually recommended. Minor issues, like a faulty pressure relief valve, might be repairable. Tankless heaters generally last longer (20+ years), but similar inspection applies. If repair costs exceed 50% of replacement, replacement is often the more economical choice.
