Towel Bar Installation

Before drilling, use a stud finder to locate the wooden studs behind the drywall where you plan to install the towel bar. Mark the center of each stud with a pencil. Installing directly into studs provides the most secure mounting.

Hold one of the towel bar's mounting brackets against the wall at your desired height, ensuring it is level. Use a pencil to mark the screw hole locations on the wall, aligning with the previously marked stud centers if possible. Repeat for the second bracket, ensuring the correct distance between them as specified by the towel bar's design.

Select a drill bit that is slightly smaller than the diameter of your screws. Drill pilot holes into the wall at each of the marked screw locations. If drilling into a stud, the pilot hole should be about two-thirds the depth of the screw. If using drywall anchors, follow the anchor manufacturer's instructions for pilot hole size and depth.

If your marked locations do not align with studs, gently tap the appropriate drywall anchors into the pilot holes until they are flush with the wall surface. Ensure you are using anchors rated for the expected weight of wet towels.

Align the first mounting bracket over its pilot holes (or installed anchors). Insert the appropriate screws through the bracket holes and into the wall or anchors. Tighten the screws firmly with a screwdriver or drill, ensuring the bracket is securely fastened to the wall. Repeat for the second bracket.

Most towel bars have a bar that slides into or attaches to the mounting brackets. Align the towel bar with the attached brackets and secure it according to the manufacturer's instructions. This often involves set screws on the underside of the bracket or a simple snap-in mechanism.

Once the towel bar is attached, gently pull and push on it to ensure it is stable and securely mounted. Check that there is no excessive wobble or movement. If it feels loose, re-tighten screws or check the anchors.
