Step 4 · Remove the Old Garbage Disposal

This is the step most people slow down on. Take it one move at a time — there’s no rush, and you can rewind the clip as many times as you need.

Loosen the mounting ring securing the disposal to the sink flange by rotating it counter-clockwise. Carefully remove the disposal from its mounting bracket. A disposal wrench or large flathead screwdriver might be needed.
