Step 2 · Disconnect the Plumbing

This is the step people usually slow down on. Go finger-tight first, then a quarter turn. No rush — replay the clip whenever it helps.

Carefully disconnect the discharge pipe from the disposal, the P-trap from the drainpipe, and the dishwasher drain hose (if applicable). Use pliers or a wrench to gently loosen and separate the connections. Keep a bucket or towels handy to absorb any remaining water.
