Step 2 · Attempt to Clear with a Plunger

This is the step people usually slow down on. Go finger-tight first, then a quarter turn. No rush — replay the clip whenever it helps.

A simple clog located close to the fixtures might be the cause. Before using more advanced tools, attempt to clear it with a plunger. First, use a wet rag to completely seal the bathroom sink's drain opening. If your shower has an overflow plate, seal that as well. Place the cup plunger over the shower drain, ensuring a tight seal. Run a small amount of water into the shower to cover the plunger's cup. Vigorously push and pull the plunger 10-15 times to create pressure and suction in the drain line, which can dislodge a simple clog. After plunging, run the shower again to see if the gurgling in the toilet has stopped.
