Step 5 · Assemble the Joint

Immediately after fluxing, assemble the joint to prevent dust or debris from contaminating the clean surfaces. Push the copper pipe straight into the copper fitting until it bottoms out in the fitting's socket. Give the pipe a small quarter-turn twist as you push it in to ensure the flux is evenly spread across the mating surfaces. Use a clean rag to wipe off any excess flux that squeezes out of the seam.
