Step 3 · Light the Pilot Light

This is the step people usually slow down on. Go finger-tight first, then a quarter turn. No rush — replay the clip whenever it helps.

Use a long lighter or match to light the pilot. Press and hold the gas control knob while lighting the pilot. Continue holding for 30-60 seconds after ignition to allow the thermocouple to heat. If your model has an igniter button, press and hold it instead.
