Step 8 · Purge Air From the System
Leave the hot water faucet (that you opened earlier) running while the tank refills. At first, it will spit and sputter as air is pushed out of the tank and pipes. Once a full, steady stream of water is flowing from the faucet, all the air has been purged from the system. At this point, you can turn off that faucet. Check for any leaks around the drain valve and T&P valve on the heater.
