Step 6 · Tighten the Locknut

This is the step people usually slow down on. Go finger-tight first, then a quarter turn. No rush — replay the clip whenever it helps.

Once you have successfully set the water pressure to your target level, you must lock the adjustment in place. Using your adjustable wrench, tighten the locknut by turning it clockwise until it is snug against the valve body. Do not overtighten, as this can damage the threads or the valve. Just make it firm enough to prevent the adjustment screw from vibrating or moving over time.
