Step 3 · Manually Clear Blockages

This is the step people usually slow down on. Go finger-tight first, then a quarter turn. No rush — replay the clip whenever it helps.

Use an Allen wrench (usually included with the disposal or readily available at hardware stores) to manually rotate the motor shaft. Insert the wrench into the hex-shaped hole at the bottom and rotate back and forth to dislodge debris.
