Step 2 · Install a New Garbage Disposal (Recommended)

This is the step most people slow down on. Take it one move at a time — there’s no rush, and you can rewind the clip as many times as you need.

Given the age of the disposal (over 5 years) and the leak at the seam, replacement is the recommended solution. Carefully remove the mounting assembly securing the old unit to the sink flange. Install the new garbage disposal, ensuring it's properly attached to the mounting apparatus and the drainpipe is securely connected. Restore power and thoroughly test for any leaks.
