Step 3 · Inspect and Repair or Replace the Fill Valve

This is the step people usually slow down on. Go finger-tight first, then a quarter turn. No rush — replay the clip whenever it helps.

Examine the fill valve. If the tank isn't filling to the correct level, adjust the float or replace the valve. Make sure the refill tube isn't kinked or obstructed. If replacing, follow the manufacturer’s instructions carefully.
