Step 1 · Manually Rotate the Garbage Disposal Impeller

Before you begin, always disconnect the power to the garbage disposal at the circuit breaker. Then, using a garbage disposal wrench (or an Allen wrench as an alternative), insert it into the turning port at the bottom of the unit. Carefully rotate the impeller back and forth to dislodge any obstructions.
