Step 7 · Install Beams

Cut the beams (typically doubled-up 2x lumber) to the required lengths. Lift the beams into place and rest them on top of the posts (if using post caps) or attach them to the sides of the posts using appropriate connectors and fasteners. Ensure the beams are level and properly aligned. If the deck spans across beams, ensure they are adequately sized for the span and load.
