Install the Roofing Material

You've never seen anything like this! Cool chicken coop ideas for "grass fed" poultry!
What happens here
For the coop's roof, use bright-colored galvanized roofing material to reflect heat and keep the chickens cooler. The roofing sheets are spread out evenly over the PVC frame. A key modification involves cutting off protruding bolts (that hold the support beam) to allow the roofing material to sit flat and prevent any obstruction. A reciprocating saw (Sawzall) is used for this task. Washers are also used with the roofing screws to ensure a secure attachment that won't pull through the material over time. The tin was precisely cut to size by a specialist shop, simplifying the installation process.
Goal: Provide shade and shelter for the chickens by installing the roof.
Tools and materials
- Drill/Driver DeWalt — Driving in the self-tapping screws for the roofing
- Galvanized Roofing Material — Providing shade and protection from elements, chosen for its reflective properties
- Measuring Tape — Ensuring even spacing and overhang of the roofing material
- Reciprocating Saw — Cutting off the excess length of the support beam's bolt
- Self-tapping Screws — Securing the roofing material to the PVC frame
- Washers — Distributing the pressure of the screws and preventing the roofing material from tearing
